Its Christmas!!!

Its Christmas Time Again!!!!! by tomcook

Well i got a brief to write Christmas tunes in Feb but have only just felt safe enough to reenter the christmas vibe without self harming!!
So here are a few tunes based on christmas classics. Will try to do some christmas electro and maybe even a festive dubstep number.....why is there no easter music...i love eggs.....i do apologise for these tunes in advance
they are all unfinished so expect bad singing and some lost words and ideas, or even non words but yeah its a bit of fun.....chow for now

Its coming....

It's coming... by tomcook

I don't really know what this track is, its sort of electro pop, with vague non vocals, a mid section that has a dark muppet stomp feel to it and then a kinda poppy ending ....... hmmm kept me quite for a few hours though.....
i do kinda like its weird menace and the bass sound, am i saying drink of water in the middle i really don't know!!! maybe it could be a late night cantina band track. But yeah i do like the way the bassline changes key for the end and the vocals stay the same brings a happy contrat to it all.....

see through tabasco

Copernicus's Centre

Copernicus's centre by tomcook

Todays task was to use the orchestra without drums and rhythm, to turn off the click and create something fluid, progressive and emotive. Found some space for the clarinet and flute sections, really like the atmosphere they bring.
A lot of dodgy notes about and my timpani crescendos are hilarious but its a sketch.....
Will maybe ut it all together sometime, maybe expolre some electronica in their for gaming zones.
Cheers to you all.....

vigorous disciplines

Arise from the mire by tomcook

I was sat there thinking can i write game music, filmic military pieces that try to give you awe and dread and all that shabazz
so i started latering up huge brass riffs, snares, i found timpani's and suspended cymbals (nice didnt know i had em), tried to get a feeling of woe and military grandeur, and then had to put some glockenspiel in just to ruin it all.
But kinda enjoyed the whole process, need to go back over it, expand the riffs so its less repetitive, and remove all the mistakes!! But thought it was worth a swift bloggup, will write a few more and post em soon.
Cheers chaps, pip pip, johnny wilco riley,  fanta crescendo!!! good name for an album there i think riley fanta crescendo it may become my new catch phrase.........must tinker on

acoustical timbres

acoustical timbres by tomcook

A batch of acoustic treats
recently bought the ableton orchestra and have been lost inside it

also some older banjo tunes and bits
i have resorted to tuning things my own way as i found the banjo played to much banjo style things in its normal tuning
i know its a banjo but i like to tinker!!
11 13 just started yesterday enjoying the amount of instruments i can bring to bear now
but will probably have to trim it alittle after the excitment has receded!!

got a sampled guzheng which is little a japanese zither (i think probably offended alot of cultures there!)
and that has thrown up some nice soundscapes to explore

also been hanging out with Martin Green too much and started writing things in hard to discern time signatures........

Heres a new load of tunes some brand new and others lingering around
hoefully all of them released very soon with liftmusic boost tv or poke music

theres a few little gems in here things that are simple but make me happy
and others that have some nice edges shapes and slices in them

personal fave
'i am' just something mesmerising about 8 bit voices, one of those tunes you write in 3 minutes
